Learning to drive

Today we gathered up all our memories to discuss how we all learned to drive. Mine was in a VW with my dad. When I pushed in the clutch for the 4th time to shift gears it just fell off and the metal broke and onto the floor. He said, ” well that is weird, you have a strong foot” and I said, ” well, how do I stop this thing now that we are going down nose bleed hill?”, he said, “just give us a wild ride .” And so I did lurching all the way home. Well we landed back home in one piece. I did have reservations about getting into the VW again. Other things I heard from my friends were, ”women didn’t drive much in our day, or my uncle taught me, my boyfriend taught me, my husband taught me, my brother taught me.” Their first drives were a lot let stressful than mine 8).

Yoga giggles

Just breathe and relax the yoga master said. In thru the noise and out the mouth. Try six breaths in and 4 breaths out. Meanwhile on breath 2, the lawnmower was racing, the weed whacker was whacking, the hedge trimmer was trimming, the blower was blowing. It was all I could do to stay focused and not keep wandering or roll out laughing on the floor. Then the housekeeper started making noise with the vacuum cleaner. And so with that, we all had a little yoga giggle, rolled our eyes and moved on. If we couldjust meditatewith all that noise that they are making, we all would have no complaints today.

On Summer

It comes and goes, it warm and hot, it may rain, it may not, it may just be dusty!

After workshop class today I was thinking just what was that guy all jazzed up about. Too much coffee? I mean the stories, the extraneous information . So much more information than I needed or wanted to hear. We all were just trying to get our certificates and get on with our day. Often the rambling of words are just that. Some things are just better left un-said.

The book

Today I was sitting at a stop light, sipping my iced coffee and my thoughts drifted to you. It was really warm outside today, but I could smell the rain last night before it dried out on the ground. I think I might have seen some steam. I decided that grief is a funny animal. You never really get over it, you just learn to cope better. You just get along with your life. I still think of you often, you are not forgotten. It can be anything that brings you to mind, a song on the radio, seeing a chipmunk run across the patio, the quiet while I am floating in the swimming pool , or watching the sun set outside. It is there, it is you..forever.. Kiss, Kiss, forever… Sis

New Project

Since I have been stuck on my writing of the book. I have been painting silk scarves. It is very labor intensive. You can make mistakes, easily. I think I finally have the process down. So I will send them up to the gallery soon.

Just finished ” Eat, Pray, Love” on the airplane. You know cancelled flights, layovers. Flying is not what it used to be. Anyhow…. I really hope the movie is better with Julia R. It lagged in many places, especially the beginning. I guess I expected too much. I give it 2 carrots and no kleenex’s.

I just met the most amazing artist from Mexico. He has been painting ceilings like Michelangelo for 17 years. He is very quiet and his English is very broken. I admire and love all types of art work. I can see by his hands he is a hard worker and he probably has a family that he tries to support. Is he legal or not, I don’t have a clue. I just enjoyed his art. Mother’s Day is Sunday, I say for all the Mom’s in the world have a wonderful day and this includes all grandmothers and great grandmothers. We all need to pray for a better, safer world for everyone.

It’s all in a name

We just finished creating a beautiful layered landscape piece of art. This process took them about two weeks time. Everyone was to name their piece as we always do as we finish and we also sign the piece. The first said, ” it’s just a mess,” the 2nd said ” Fantasy” the 3rd said ” 8 o’clock” . Now that ……was profound. It is really amazing how the mind works sometimes.

Empty boxes & yoga giggle

What a beautiful spring day. The birds were singing and the roses are in bloom. Today I received a pretty red heart-shaped box from a friend that was empty. This is the third box I have received as a loving gift from her. I take each box and thank her for the gift. It once was filled with chocolates and she has enjoyed every single one. It is okay that she does not share the chocolates with me. I am pleased that she chose to give me her special box.

During seated yoga today, we were in the relaxing section, wonderful music playing, and we were saying; Peace above me, below me, around me, beside me and within me and a very sweet individual proceeded to walk across the classroom with her jammies on with a big straw cowboy hat smiling at the class. We all had a big….yoga giggle.

Knee doing well..easter eggs

Seated Yoga class today, first time since surgery. I have added small ankle weights for specific exercises for the knee to add some quad strength per the Doc . Post class we painted easter eggs with watercolors. One of my clients who has difficulty speaking/conversing painted the greatest egg with a bunny rabbit on it. She is an excellent artist and what detail! Some created pointillism which is what I see a lot with dementia cases. Just goes to show you when one system fails in the body there are still many..many blessings left. I am glad to meet her and paint with her today. I look forward to meeting her again. I am especially thrilled when they say, ” I can’t paint” and they produce something amazing. The entire staff is also amazing on how much they help each and every client. What would the world do without these angels?
